Unidentified curved bacilli on gastric epithelium in active chronic gastritis.Lancet, 321 (8336) 1273-5, 1983.Discovery of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer. Marshall and Warren shared the 2005 Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine for this discovery.
